Vaccination roll-out commences at Jessie McPherson Private Hospital

On Thursday 25 February, Jessie McPherson Private Hospital team members joined many around Australia in being part of the first group to receive the COVID-19 vaccination.

We are proud to be part of the historical moment that saw the Monash Health network kick off their vaccination program for priority Phase 1a healthcare workers.

As the vaccination program continues, we know many of you are wondering what to expect and how you might feel after receiving the vaccine.

We checked in to see how one of our Week One employees felt about receiving their first dose of the Pfizer/BioNtech vaccine.

Vaccination discussion

“I was excited to have the COVID-19 vaccine as a nurse working in a high risk area. The vaccine seems to have taken a while to become available so I am very relieved to have had the first of the two vaccine doses.

I felt completely fine after the vaccine. The injection site was slightly sore to touch the following day, otherwise no side effects at all.” – Amber Coleman, Nurse Unit Manager, 31 North

Receiving Vaccine

It’s pleasing to see the vaccination program is off to such a great start. We look forward to providing updates from our teams as they progress to the vaccine’s all-important second dose and beyond.

What remains vital is remembering that, once vaccinated against COVID-19, we must all continue to remain vigilant. This means wearing the correct PPE at all times, getting tested if you have symptoms consistent with COVID-19 and, if you are tested, staying home until you receive a negative result.
